Karma is capricious indeed. I don’t have the world’s biggest sweet tooth; but, as it happens, the only three sweet things I much like— cupcakes, oatmeal raisin cookies, and dark chocolate— have all had to be dropped from my diet. The third is on hiatus because chocolate does indeed seem to worsen the demon migraines, while the first two—grr!!!— are gone because somehow it escaped everyone for 22 years of my life that I am gluten intolerant. Sooo. Haagen-Dazs low fat chocolate sorbet is the current answer to my dessert quandary, and it actually, unbelievably softens the blow of this whole mess. For some reason, I don’t get migraines from chocolate sorbet the way I do from chocolate, and the fact that it’s low fat means that it takes really chocolatey to me, not creamy (I’m weird, I hate ice cream). Try it. It’s heaven, and it makes any bad day (or hellish allergic reaction) not so bad/hellish.
